Holla Back Girl!

So our girl for the Look of the Week, I know a lot you in the “O” know her she is the crazy funny, a catchy one liner, and superwoman Co-host to Johnny on XL106.7, Miss Jayde. I got the opportunity to do her makeup for the opening night of Mall at Millenia’s fashion show, (thanks Melanie Pace), and she was too cool. The look is smokey, sultry eyes and she can definitely pull it off. So I started with Smolder eye kohl all over the lid, mixed that with Dark Soul pigment, I love pigment for smokey eyes because it’s pure color no additives, it gives me black and not that greenish tint you sometimes get with black shadow. Blend with a bit of Carbon eye shadow and blend, blend; blend the key to perfect smokey eyes. In the crease I did a bit of Embark to warm the eye a bit I like to use a warm blending color so that the shadow doesn’t just go from dark to light. Under the brow bone I used Vapour eye shadow, with Naked pigment (my fav). Minted eye kohl on the lid, and Feline eye kohl on the inner rim it’s so black cat black, just dark umm!

On the lips I used Viva Glam II with Pretty Plush plushglass, for full lips, YES! The cheeks say Pinch Me, for a natural flush of color, and Foundation is Full Coverage. I love Full Coverage a lot of women think that it’s going to look and feel heavy but it can be sheered down to almost nothing. Manipulate the product to your liking so that you can get the best wear, it is a beautiful foundation.
Thank you Jayde, you are so nice I’m glad you loved your makeup. I’ll try to wake up early to catch you on XL106.7. Peace!

Styled by Melanie Pace

melanie pace
I’m really excited to give you scoop on my first interview with Fashion Stylist Melanie Pace. I know a lot of fashion forward thinkers and doers in Orlando may already know of Melanie but for those who have been sleep for a couple years let me break it down for you, Ms. Pace is the Rachel Zoe of Orlando. She is styling upscale clients, putting together fashions for runway shows, trend forecasting, and representing high style. She sat down to talk with me before Mall at Millennia’s annual fashion show which she has helped to inspire the last couple years and here’s what she had to say.

L.M.:Do you remember the first person you styled? And what was that feeling like for you?
Melanie: Yes I do. It was exciting, a lot of pressure. I had a lot of confidence that I knew what I was doing and the client liked that I was secure and confident of myself and the ideas I was bringing to them.

L.M.: What do you feel your clients like about you and your style?
Melanie: My clients like that I am honest, that I understand and know their body type, also that I take the time to understand their personal lifestyle.
Another important thing to me is that my style is not over the top sexy. In my own style and how I dress a client I don’t tend to show a lot of skin, not a whole lot of cleavage, not a bunch of miniskirts. I like to show clients they can be sexy and stylish but also covered up.

L.M.: So how did you get involved with Mall at Millennia Fashion show?
Melanie: Good relationships with the retailers here in the mall , by being a personal shopper I am in the mall all the time and Mall at Millennia was looking for new inspiration and ideas for their show and I was referred.

L.M.: What advice can you give up and comers about a career in fashion styling?
Melanie: First it’s still a job, it looks very glamorous but there is yet work to be done and a client has to be happy with his or her look.
Be organized, confident, stay in the mall get to know brands, the people working in the stores they can be great sources. And most importantly look the part. No one wants a stylist who isn’t styled and looking the part themselves.
L.M.: Who would you say are you favorite style icons?
Melanie: Rachel Zoe, Nicole Richie, and Brad Pitt.

Well there you have it, thank you so much to Melanie your talent is Haute and your personality is amazing All the Best!
