That’s what I heard Tuesday nite at Lake Eola, during what was supposed to be a World AIDS day candle light Vigil and Ceremony.I must say I was very hurt at the response that the city i live in showed for World AIDS day. I had the great opprotunity to go support an organization that offers aid and support to people living with the disease. Myself and others went and did makeup and gave haircuts to some of the sick. Well afterward there was a “planned” vigil and cerrmony to take place downtown in the city. Well unfortunately no one showed and as we walked around the park for about an hour asking people if they knew anything about the vigil or the fact that it was WORLD AIDS day they all gave blank stares! UGH what disgust, I was so hurt and disappointed. I am one of those people who wants to make a difference in the world and life but we as a people really need to prioritize what really matters in life and it’s not next weeks beer fest, which is advertised all over the city

Now I don’t know about you but when I was in grade school, we would be so happy when someone came from the community or wherever to speak to our class, we didn’t care what it was about long as we didn’t have to listen to the teacher. For the first time I got to experience what that was like. I’ve done things before where I’ve gotten up to speak to adults but 6 and 7th graders was entirely different. It was amazing! the kids were awesome, they were so excited, (probably high on sugar), but it was all good. I went to Meadow Brook middle school for their annual Teach-In organized by Orange County Public Schools. If you know or have something like this in your community I encourage you to get involved. It was so great to be there in a kids world. School has changed so much, the things we experienced in school are truly elementary compared to what kids and teachers now face. I was honored to be apart, the students asked plenty of questions about my career as a makeup artist, what I do for fun, and how much money I make. It was an eye-opening experience, I realized how hungry kids are for information and that they really do want guidance and to know how to figure things out, it was great to be able to offer some insight.
