Italia Vogue presents Vogue Black. A-MAZING! yes , yes, yes, yes the day all black girls dreamed for first we get a Disney Princess and now Vogue Black Hallelujah. I know, I know, I know I can’t stop. This right here makes me so happy i can’t take it. It gives me so much hope for the now and the future when will countries and people see that WE
( Black people) are a market of individuals with so much taste, substance, beauty and quality to do everything God has purposed us to do and believe or not it really has nothing to with color we just happen to be black, we can do anything man! It just takes a few or to many unfortunate hurdles, road blocks and let’s be honest closed doors but we always come out, over and thru everything that some try to stop us with. Now I know some may say whatever that’s Italian Vogue whatever who cares well last time I check Miss Diana Ross a.k.a. Mahogany went her lil black a$$ right over to Italy and became a fashion icon in movie and real life. Which brings me to my motto of the year given to me by Yakira
” I Like Who Like Me” and if that’s Italian Vogue then Chile Boo I love me some Italian Vogue. This brand has been celebrating the Black woman for as long as I can remember and if Diana did a movie there in the late 70’s well then damn that’s 30 years of Amour from a city many Blacks call home. I love Italy food, culture, men, shoes all of it . and I promise you I have a passports and my next stamp will have a cute black boot on it!

WOW, WOW, WOW! I am by no means a big Disney fan, I’ve lived in Orlando, Florida for nearly 9 years and I have been to Epcot twice, but thanks to my friend Brittney over at Clumps of Mascara, I might have to pay the Disney mansion a visit, wait is it a mansion or castle? The movie was absolutely amazing. The story line, the characters, the colors, the correlations with REAL life. I felt like a little kid sitting in that theater, I am Tiana, and so are other black little girls and women! and that is the beautiful part of it all.So of course, whenever I go to a movie I am always trying to figure out what makeup colors the characters are wearing and this was no different if you want to look like Princess Tiana here’s how: Lancome’s Color Design Creme blush in Petticoat, for a perfect pink cheek! I love pink blush on brwon girls, a lot of time a brown girl will say ” I don’t like pink blush it’s to bright, well newsflash you don’t blush brown so no more brown cheeks unless your using it to contour PINK is where it’s at!, For the lips I would love to see MAC’s Violetta amplified lipstick with BBQ liner for a pout made for a Princess, and the lashes O my GOD! try L’Extreme Mascara by Lancome I love how cartoons can have the longest lushes most beautiful lashes makes me want to be a cartoon : ) it gives a look of false lashes but there all yours maximized!, for your eye’s Iman’s Nutmeg eye shadow, or MAC’s Swiss Chocolate. Well there you have it Princesses, the look to help capture your King!

Now I don’t know about you but when I was in grade school, we would be so happy when someone came from the community or wherever to speak to our class, we didn’t care what it was about long as we didn’t have to listen to the teacher. For the first time I got to experience what that was like. I’ve done things before where I’ve gotten up to speak to adults but 6 and 7th graders was entirely different. It was amazing! the kids were awesome, they were so excited, (probably high on sugar), but it was all good. I went to Meadow Brook middle school for their annual Teach-In organized by Orange County Public Schools. If you know or have something like this in your community I encourage you to get involved. It was so great to be there in a kids world. School has changed so much, the things we experienced in school are truly elementary compared to what kids and teachers now face. I was honored to be apart, the students asked plenty of questions about my career as a makeup artist, what I do for fun, and how much money I make. It was an eye-opening experience, I realized how hungry kids are for information and that they really do want guidance and to know how to figure things out, it was great to be able to offer some insight.

So we are one day away from the last month of the year, and o my goodness hasn’t it been one. This year has been full, unexpected, crazy, you got an event I got a word to describe it. It’s crazy so much stuff went down this year I would have never expected. I went to the zoo in Berlin, met John Legend, Megan B chopped off ALL her hair, I hosted my first party and best of all we developed Lipstick Mixtapes. Whoa! and that’s not all the bad went down too, I got a flat tire on the side of the road this weekend (thanks Drew and Steve), Micheal Jackson died, my cousin went back to prison, and the recession is still hitting hard. But in spite of it all God has been a fence around me everyday. I am so thankful for all that has happened and even some things that haven’t happen. We never know just how our day is going to go let alone our year. It is filled with so many expected and unexpected turns. I’m coming to learn that It really is what it is, and i just hope that all the cards will fall in my favor. As I celebrate the ending as I welcome what is new, I hope that this year will go down as my best year yet. I encourage everybody if you haven’t already done something you want to do go for something, do something if it impacts no one else but you, you did it and that should make it all worth it.
