Lipstick Mixtapes and A Cause for Fashion Event Success

Monday, May 21st, 2012

Hey LM loves! I hope you all had a glamorous and beautiful weekend. LM has been busy so I apologize for missing out on you last week’s posts, but I have had lots going on! First off I’m not sure if many of you know that I was a MAC ARTIST for 5 years. Well as of recent I left my position with the company to pursue growing LM full time! I had a wonderful time working for the company as well as being with many talented artist and friends. I learned so much from so many people in the company and  I’m going to miss the team madly. BUT I am happy to be moving on to the next season in my creative career!

So to jump start the movement I was offered a great opportunity to work on a BIG photo shoot with Universal Studios! Yes THE Universal Studios! It has been a wonderful shoot full of early mornings, long hot days, and pool splashing kids! I have been doing makeup and hair for a 6 day photo campaign for all the popular Universal Hotels. It has been a great experience learning and doing so much on set! I am on set today at the Hard Rock hotel so this should be perfect for LM, we’re all about Makeup and Music!

Now onto A Cause for Fashion!

LM was on the scene this past weekend as the the  official makeup sponsor for the Heeling in Fashion Foundtion’s ‘A Cause For Fashion’ event. We did Makeup for about 18 models of the show. All models who participated were represented by BMG and they looked great walking the runway  in the South Beach inspired show. The colorful Summer trends displayed in the show inspired the makeup look I came up with. With so much color, I felt the best look to achieve was to have bronze, glowy, highlighted skin with a beautiful lip color.

Models wore: MAC AMBER LIGHTS, ALL THAT GLITTERS, NAKED LUNCH, and WOODWINKED eye shadows. The colors were layered over the entire eye lid.The blackest eyeliner I have was applied to the lower waterline and underneath the lower lashes for a bottom smokey eye effect. Lashes were full and black (no falsies)! AMBER LIGHTS, and COPPERING eyeshadow was brought down into the face to give  golden bronze highlight to the cheeks.

All the Models wore LM LIPSTICKS in ROSE, GRIND TIME, AND PARK AVENUE PINK! LIPS were pouty, and sexy! The above model is sporting ROSE.

I want to give a SPECIAL THANK YOU to my AMAZING team of Lipstick Mixtapes MUAs. They did a wonderful job. These ladies made sure the look I created was executed just as I envisioned! They were the best team!

Many thanks Nikea, Michelle, Zee, and Mika!

Lipstick Mixtapes “Generating Hype”

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

April is starting off just right for Lipstick Mixtapes, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. The month  started with a Spring/Summer makeup tutorial for CultureClimax.com. An awesome video  teaching you how to get it right with new spring colors and not matching your makeup to your outfit, “no matchy matchy”. Head to the video page or Cultureclimax.com and check it out.

Next was the live internet interview with our friends OrlandoLiveStraming.com, that was “Thee BEST” . Host Peter Murphy was great,  he kept us on our toes with the questions he had  and the models looked gorgeous  in the Spring looks created for them.  It was a GREAT evening sharing our opinions on everything from Nicki Minaj to guys wearing makeup! We covered it all, I absolutely want to do it again, and I hope very soon.

Spring Makeup Tips with Culture Climax

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Lipstick Mixtapes x CultureClimax from Culture Climax on Vimeo.

The Wait is over, the wait is over, the wait is over! The first Lipstick Mixtapes makeup video is finally here and we are so excited! For months we having been hearing do a makeup video, and I never was really interested until a sweet young lady by the name of Mandie B said Safia, “Lipstick Mixtapes should do a makeup video”, and just like timing is everything we were finally willing and ready! The Culture Climax production team was great to work with Vanessa, Arielle and, Miss Mandie B directed us thru the process like PRO’s. Somebody hit Vanessa’s car that night but frazzled she was not she came to the set and put us into action, while Arielle was moving furniture, positioning us for the camera, and Mandie B was cranking out the questions as great host and and interviewer. You all are truly “The BEST”!
