I had the great opportunity to do a sexy boudoir photo shoot over the weekend and no I was not the model : ). Can I just say much fun and very “personal” this process is . I worked with a great crew of people that worked very hard and professionally to keep our model in good spirits as well as making her as comfortable and beautiful as possible. It was fun. So in case you haven’t heard of such a thing it is basically a sexy lingerie or even nudish type shoot so Makeup Artist bring out the big guns for this one. I mean body makeup, oil, all that sparkle and beauty dust we love to use but photographers are like “NO SHINE” lol u know what I’m talking about. This makeup is Glamour Sexy, with innocence and sex appeal all in one, because truth be told many of the models for this type of shoot are everyday women who are presenting these photos as umm mmm “gifts”. So they have to look just as perfect as “actual models” and that’s where great makeup skills definitely come to play. These women of course want to look like themselves but themselves on “Beauty Steroids” i like to call it and who can blame them we all want to look hot as hell for our significant other. So when you do get called up for a job like this here’s a list of things you want to have in your kit:
I like this one by Burt’s Bees the scent is soft but Citrusy, the shine is beautiful and illuminating very nice.
You’ll need every part of your model hydrated and supple looking this will give a beautiful glow to skin and when the photographer has the perfect lighting her skin will glisten like the sun.
#2 Body makeup
I love MAC’s Face& Body, it is water based, sheer and buildable, and it won’t rub off on clothes or the leather chaise. It’s perfect for covering spider veins, skin imperfections, and discolorations without looking heavy, you still want your models naturalness to come thru.
#3 Bronzer, this one by Stila i love you can actually mix this in with your face and body and it will really look sweet.
I love bronzer it is perfect for shoots like these, it gives your model a healthy look and texture, warm and inviting. I know sometimes women will get a fake tan or even lay out to get a little color this is a great idea. In the photos you will look better as you won’t look washed out or dull. Some women like the look of very pale, I don’t it looks sick unless that is like your look and you have bright tats and dark hair. Otherwise pack the Bronze on baby!
#4 Shimmer YAY! Dior has some of the best shimmer powders!, this one has the gold, pink and a frosty white. Beautiful!
We makeup artist love us some shimmer baby and this is the time to Shimmer that bad girl out!
Anything GOLD, PINK,SILVER,BRONZE, all that. Make your model very comfortable as you will be putting this shimmer in a few conspicuous places, which will make for beautiful highlighting in the photo.
And lastly lots of gloss!
as in LIPGLOSS yes honey, she’s going to be puckering, pouting and poking those lips out so make sure those lips are on point. CLEAR, or any color she likes with a radiant high shine will do and Bobbi Brown has the perfect “non-sticky” can you believe that lipgloss for exactly the look we need!

Seems as if the nude pump isn’t the only accessory that will be beautiful this fall/ winter 09, so will be this seasons makeup. Yes getting back to what we love most MAKEUP. It’s so crazy because a lady came in today looking for a nude color eyeliner. Not black or white but NUDE I said ok, i haven’t been asked that one but immediately the artist in me kicked in. I suggested to her OAK lip pencil, yeah a lip liner, sometimes I have to throw rules out the window. It looked so good, the eye was light with a lil definition in the crease just enough to contour the eye to make it pop, her eyes were a beautiful pale green. So I lined her bottom rim (not the water line) with oak, and WOW it was a defined perfectly, sometimes brown even the lightest brown can be a bit harsh, but I found this to give the right amount of color she was looking for YEA! For darker skin I tried out Costa Rich eyeliner and it worked beautifully. Also Bronze eye shadow would look great on Brown girls too for a beautiful sparkle to the under eye area.
